re: Historic GT & Touring Cars "whining"
Okay, lets see what happens when another mod team releases a big mod and decides to make money for themselves for all their hard work, say $30 would be reasonable, and then another team and another.....
I feel that would be detrimental to the spirit of modding.

re: New Skidwall Texture Thanks for this. It certainly improves on the default skidwall texture. I have been trying to improve the vehicle to vehicle collision sparks in the V8Factor mod but so far have not had much success even though I have referred to articles on Race Sim Central forum. Plenty of good sparks for default Kodi vehicles and even with F1's in old F1 Challenge game but not V8Factor.

re: Historic GT & Touring Cars @ wims
Well the way I see it is that Simbin is getting a freekick because of work done recently by a non-afilliated mod team doing a mod for rFactor game. I don't know how old GTL is but what's to stop a publisher of one OLD game releasing a free mod (without permission) for another publishers currently popular game just so copies of there old game will be bought. I just think there are possibly undesirable ramifications. Too much for me to think about - think I'll go play F1C for a while or good old Papyrus Nascar. I wish Papy and Microprose were still around. Imagine the games they would be making.

re: Historic GT & Touring Cars I wonder how ISI views this. Simbin may make money because ISI released an extremely moddable game, and then a mod team makes a mod for rFactor that can only be used if rFactor owners already own or buy a copy of a Simbin game. It seems to me Simbin should have a big grin and maybe ISI might not be smiling so broadly. I hope ISI does not decide to reduce the moddability of any future version of rFactor.

re: Historic GT & Touring Cars I've been stung a few times on purchases from overseas so I prefer to shop locally.
Also we often find PC games from overseas are not compatible with our 'kit'. Also we never know when downloading a patch if our original game is the same as the USA or UK version so we download one and try it and if it won't work we download the other version.

re: Historic GT & Touring Cars @ jubuttib
Game prices here in Australia are sometimes close to double the price of elsewhere, even on Ebay Australia. I did a search for GT Legends on Ebay Aust. No used copies available. New & sealed from Sweden AU$25 while from here AU$38.40. Crazy. Recently I looked at price of Sims 2 Deluxe. To download direct from the publishers own website in USA would have cost about AU$45 while from the same publishers own Aussie website about $95. We Aussies envy game players overseas. Guess I should migrate.
Know this is off topic but I thought our friends from around the world might like to know how the game companies price gouge us here. Our government held in inquiry several years ago but of course nothing eventuated.:(
That's why a lot of us here just wait and hope for the budget priced versions of games to appear 3 to 4 years after original release. I'm glad the movie & music industries don't do the same thing to us.

re: Historic GT & Touring Cars @ Rantam
As far as I know this is the first major mod to appear here that requires people to buy another game in order to use the mod. Not everyone has time and/or desires to read the WIP's so for this to appear and be so desirable a mod is like dangling a new toy in front of a child on their birthday and telling them they have to pay you money for it. You would have a very unhappy and perhaps annoyed child.
As for GTL being cheap, please see my previous post.
Hmmm.... I wonder if the publisher of GTL would consider giving you full and free permission for this mod. That would certainly earn them some kudos.
Regards,

re: Historic GT & Touring Cars @ Firefox
quote "GTL is cheap nowadays"
You have just pushed the price of GTL upwards. Here in Australia you can get it from Atari for around $60, & that's about what we pay for rFactor which is of course quite reasonable for a whole game that you want, but if you have to pay that amount in order to use the DVD to get a mod for rFactor to run it well it does not seem so attractive. Cheapest I saw on Ebay Aust was around $40 including postage.
Anyway congrats on a great looking mod. It's just a pity so few of us will get to use it. At least we can see the videos others will make though.
GTL's publisher should be very pleased with your new marketing method.

re: Historic GT & Touring Cars One word - disappointment - can't see myself paying $60 for GTL just so I can enjoy this mod. I'll wait for GTL to go budget priced I guess. Hope it does so soon. Meanwhile there are plenty of other great mods available.

re: New Fire Texture Is there a way to increase the chance of fire? I've enabled damage and mechanical failure and made a few test drives with lots of crashes but still have not seen fire. Tested using ISI ZAPs and BMWf1's

re: International Rallycross 1 re washington96's comment on rapidshare cat ID test, I've failed that countless times. Very frustrating. Guess they want people to pay to skip past it. Also I can't use a download manager with rapishare, unlike megauload and filefront which always work with a DL manager.

re: Whitty International Raceway Brilliant, superb, fantastic and great fun. Ah...I really like it.
Wonder if a real life track like this would be any good? I think so, but as I'm not a racer or designer I could be wrong.
I think it would be a very interesting track though.
