2025 MLB Draft: Who are the top prospects to watch?

We’re getting our first real look at the 2025 MLB Draft class, and while the buzz isn’t crazy yet, there are definitely some names worth following.

Right now, the consensus No. 1 prospect is Jace LaViolette (RF, Texas A&M). The guy’s a massive left-handed power bat with comparisons to Lance Berkman, though there are some concerns about his strikeout rate. If he keeps raking, though, it’s hard to see him falling too far.

For pitching, Jamie Arnold (LHP, Florida State) is the top-ranked arm. His velocity jumped from the high 80s in high school to sitting mid-90s now, plus he’s got a nasty sweeper. Control is still a bit of an issue, but the potential is huge.

Beyond those two, Tyler Bremner (RHP, UC Santa Barbara) was in the conversation as the top pitcher, but he left his first start with soreness—so his stock is a bit up in the air.

A few other names to watch:

  • Cam Cannarella (CF, Clemson) – Elite contact hitter but lacks power.
  • Aiva Arquette (SS, Oregon State) – Well-rounded, power-hitting shortstop with solid on-base skills.
  • Ethan Holliday (3B, Stillwater HS, OK) – Has been a lock for the first round for years, but mechanical issues with his swing might hold him back.
  • Marek Houston (SS, Wake Forest) – His stock is skyrocketing with a huge start to the season. Scouts are throwing out Dansby Swanson comparisons.
There’s plenty of time for risers and fallers, but so far, this class feels like it’s waiting for a breakout star. Who are you guys watching? Any favorites to go No. 1?
