Can poker be a mental workout?

As a history teacher, I’m always engaging my mind, but I recently started wondering—can poker be a mental workout? I’ve been playing Texas Hold’em online, and it strikes me as a game that’s more about strategy and psychology than luck.

The parallels to historical strategy are fascinating. It reminds me of famous battles where commanders had to bluff, predict moves, and manage resources. Playing poker feels like engaging in those historical chess matches but in a modern setting.

Does anyone else see gambling games, especially poker, as more than just luck? I’d love to hear if you’ve come across strategies or historical tactics that influenced your gameplay.
