Crypto casinos: are they really that "anonymous"?

I’ve been testing out different crypto casinos over the past few months, and one thing I’ve realized is that true anonymity in online gambling is a bit of a myth. A lot of platforms market themselves as "no ID required" or "100% anonymous," but the moment you actually try to withdraw a decent amount, the story changes.

Take one of the casinos I tried recently. I deposited some Bitcoin, played for a while, and made a solid profit. But as soon as I went to cash out, I got hit with a request for identity verification. They wanted a passport scan and proof of address—basically the same KYC (Know Your Customer) process as any traditional gambling site. So much for anonymous gambling, right?

I get why KYC exists—it’s supposed to prevent fraud, money laundering, and underage gambling. But if a casino is going to require ID anyway, why advertise itself as fully anonymous? It just feels misleading.

There are still some platforms that stick to their promise—mostly decentralized gambling sites running on smart contracts. These allow you to deposit, play, and withdraw purely through your crypto wallet, no questions asked. The trade-off? They often lack customer support, have fewer game options, and withdrawals can be painfully slow if the blockchain network is congested.

Then there's the issue of blockchain transparency. Even if a casino doesn’t ask for your personal details, your transactions are still recorded on the blockchain. If someone knows your wallet address, they can see exactly where your funds are going. So in a way, traditional online casinos with private databases might actually offer more privacy than a fully crypto-based one.

I’m curious—has anyone found a crypto casino that genuinely lets you stay anonymous from deposit to withdrawal? Or is this just clever marketing that falls apart when you actually try to cash out?
