I got this lucky on roulette

I’ll admit, I wasn’t expecting much when I walked into my first casino here in Ottawa, Canada. But I had just had a birthday, and my friends convinced me it was time to try something new. I walked in with $100, fully prepared to lose it all for the sake of fun. To my surprise, the evening took a turn I’ll remember for a long time. 😊

Session 1: Roulette payouts surprise me!

At first, I stuck with small bets—$10 chips on the second and third 12s on the American roulette wheel. As the spins went by, I noticed my $100 dwindling down to about $60. Just as I considered calling it a night, I decided to risk a third of my bankroll on the second dozen. It hit! Not long after, I followed a whim and placed $5 on green. The wheel landed on zero, and suddenly I was holding $400. The rush was incredible, and I knew I should stop there. But of course, curiosity got the better of me.

Session 2: Betting on black and red pays off

I went back the next night with the profit and set a firm rule—only play with the winnings. At the table, I noticed another player confidently betting on numbers like 9 and 27, so I decided to copy her. I placed a $10 chip on black 9, and to my amazement, it hit. That spin alone bumped me up to $450. However, the ups and downs of the roulette odds caught up to me. By the time I reached $200, I placed $100 on red (first 12) and threw $10 on 14 just for fun. Incredibly, it landed on 14, and I walked away with $700.

Reflection: A mix of luck and the unpredictable odds

After those nights, I’ve been tempted to dive into more research—studying the roulette payout chart, learning about the roulette odds, and understanding the patterns on the American roulette board. But if I’m being honest, I know the truth: I got lucky. I don’t want to give all that money back to the casino, but there’s something magnetic about the spin of that wheel. Whether it’s black, red, or green, the excitement is real.
