Is anyone profitable with just perfect basic strategy?

I’ve been analyzing basic strategy for blackjack for years, and I’m curious: has anyone here managed to remain profitable using just perfect basic strategy alone, without counting cards or chasing gimmicks?

From a mathematical standpoint, we know basic strategy minimizes the house edge—down to about 0.5% at a good table—but the edge still belongs to the casino. Over the long run, playing perfectly doesn’t guarantee profit, it just slows your losses. Yet I keep seeing people claim they’re consistently “up” playing basic strategy.

Are these players getting lucky, playing shorter sessions, or perhaps they’re misrepresenting the numbers? I’ve personally had stretches where I’ve come out ahead, but over time, the math always wins.

I’d love to hear from anyone who swears by basic strategy alone. Are you actually in the green long-term, or is it more of a steady climb followed by the inevitable fall? Let’s stick to facts, not anecdotes—if you’re beating the game, I’d genuinely like to understand how.
