Is sports betting legal in Wisconsin?

I spent New Year’s up in Wisconsin this year, and man, what a vibe. The fireworks, the cheese curds, and the cold—perfect for ringing in a new year! While I was there, I swung by one of their tribal casinos to see what the deal was with Wisconsin sports betting. Turns out, if you want to legally bet on sports, those casinos are your only option right now.

Honestly, I was surprised they haven’t fully embraced online betting yet. I mean, how cool would it be to sit by the fire with a Wisconsin sports betting app and throw down a few bets while sipping on something warm? But nope—if you’re asking, "Is online sports betting legal in Wisconsin?", the answer is still a hard no.

That said, the casino scene was solid. Felt a bit old-school, placing my bets in person, but there’s something exciting about that energy on the floor. I had a few good laughs with the locals and even managed to win a little. Still, I couldn’t help but think how much easier it’d be if Wisconsin jumped on the online sports betting train.

Anyone else visit Wisconsin for the holidays? Did you check out the betting scene or stick to the bar for the Packers chatter?

You’re right, Wisconsin is lagging behind on online betting. Tribal casinos have a monopoly on sports betting, but I suspect it’s only a matter of time before they expand to apps.

A few more states embracing online sports betting might nudge them in the right direction. Until then, casinos it is.
