Pereira. A lot of people were hyped on Pereira, but I had a feeling Ankalaev’s southpaw stance and wrestling would be too much for him. Glad I trusted my gut!
I threw $200 on Ankalaev ML at +160 early in the week before the odds shifted. By fight night, he was closer to even money, so I knew I was on the right side. The way he controlled the distance and neutralized Pereira’s power made it an easy decision win. Cash that ticket!
Also, gotta give a shoutout to Ignacio Bahamondes – Chile finally has a legit UFC star!
Anyone else make some cash on UFC 313? Or did you get burned betting on Pereira?

Why I Bet Against Pereira
- Too active – Five title fights in 16 months? That’s insane. Fighters burn out.
- Struggles with wrestlers – Even though Ankalaev didn’t get the takedown, his wrestling threat made Pereira hesitant.
- Line value – People overestimated Pereira’s power. This wasn’t a kickboxing match. Ankalaev had more paths to victory.
Biggest Lesson: Betting Smart on UFC
- Look beyond the hype – Pereira is a star, but that doesn’t mean he’s a lock.
- Styles make fights – Ankalaev had the perfect style to neutralize Pereira.
- Timing your bets matters – Getting in at +160 instead of -110 made a huge difference in profits.
