Last night, I pocketed £200 at the casino playing blackjack, staking £20 per hand. This morning, I’ve been tinkering with the blackjack app on my phone to test a few theories. Over 20 years of play—both online and at the table—I’ve estimated I’ve played roughly 250,000 hands.
Here’s something astonishing: I can count on one hand the times I’ve drawn seven cards without busting—an occurrence I estimate happens around once in 50,000 hands. Statistically improbable yet possible! Unfortunately, I wasn’t quick enough to screenshot the moment.
What’s the most cards you’ve managed to draw in a hand without busting? Anyone out there who’s pulled off eight or more? I'd be intrigued to hear your anecdotes or calculated odds.
May your wagers always land in the black.
