This hand still has me scratching my head. I was playing 10/25 NL, and my opponent—a solid player who rarely bluffs—was on the button. My table image was strong, and here’s how it unfolded:
I’m in the BB with Q10s, and we both have around 8k in chips. It folds to him, he raises to 125, and I make it 375. He calls.
The flop is AJ2 with two hearts. I lead out with a 350 bet, and he calls. The turn is the 10h, putting three hearts on the board. I bet 1k, and again, he calls. At this point, I’m convinced I’m behind.
The river is the 2s, pairing the board. I check, he bets 1k, and I tank. Instead of calling normally, I accidentally shove with 5x 1k chips and a 500 chip.
He tanks for 10 minutes, eventually calls, and I show my hand. He mucks.
I asked him what he had (I couldn’t resist), and he said, “Oh, that hand? I don’t remember.” What?! It made no sense. Maybe he misread the board, or maybe he thought my shove was a bluff. Either way, it’s one for the books.
Anyone else have a hand this strange?
