Alright, so don’t roast me too much here, but I’ve just started messing around with basic strategy blackjack. Got one of those hit/stand/double charts (you know the ones) and I’m trying to figure out something that’s been bugging me.
What’s the point of sticking to the chart when there are multiple players at the table or if you’re playing multiple hands yourself? I get the whole idea of trying to keep the dealer in a tough spot, like leaving a “bust” card out there or taking a potential game-changer for yourself. Makes sense when it’s just you and the dealer, like a good ol’ showdown in a Western movie.
But if you’ve got other players (or even just yourself playing more than one hand), isn’t that just leaving that card hanging around for the next guy? Unless, of course, you’re the final hand in line. Then you’re calling the shots.
Basically, I can see the logic for 1v1, but how does it hold up when it’s a free-for-all 5v1? Does the strategy just... not care? Or is it one of those “play your own game and hope the math gods are on your side” kinda deals?
Any wisdom from the blackjack sages out there would be greatly appreciated!
