I’ll be honest—I never paid much attention to the Maine State Lottery until a couple of months ago. I live nowhere near Maine, but a road trip with some friends changed everything.
We were driving up the East Coast, passing through Maine, and on a whim, we stopped at this little gas station outside of Portland. One of my buddies, who plays every state lottery he comes across, convinced me to grab a few Maine State Lottery tickets. So I picked up a Maine State Lottery Pick 3 and a Pick 4 ticket, along with a couple of quick picks for Powerball and Mega Millions—because hey, why not?
Fast forward a week later—I’m back home, totally forgot about the tickets, and suddenly I hear someone won big on the lottery Mega Millions Powerball jackpot from a ticket sold in Maine. My heart dropped. I tore apart my backpack looking for my tickets and immediately pulled up the Maine State Lottery winning numbers.
Of course, I wasn’t the lucky one who hit the Mega Millions jackpot, but I actually matched a couple of numbers on my Maine State Lottery Pick 4 ticket. It wasn’t a life-changing win, but enough to make me think, Huh, maybe I should pay attention to these draws more often.
Now, I find myself randomly checking Maine State Lottery results, even though I don’t live there. I even started tracking the Delaware Lottery too, since I passed through there on the same trip. And yeah, I still play Powerball now and then, just in case one of those spur-of-the-moment tickets actually turns into something big.
Anyone else ever buy lottery tickets while traveling and end up following that state’s lottery way more than you expected? Or am I just stuck in this weird habit of hoping my random Maine ticket was actually the lucky one?
